This is an express home spa treatment, but no less luxurious for it. It is easily done in the shower or tub, and will take no more than about 5 or 10 minutes. It follows the basic steps of cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. Spa Wisdom is from The Body Shop and is best suited for women and older girls, as the scents in the Spa Wisdom range are generally quite feminine. However, this particular grouping of ingredients can be used for men as none of the scents are really that strong.

What you will need

The Spa Wisdom line is from The Body Shop, so you can get all you need either at their physical store, or online. In the future, we will be covering Body Shop parties which are a great way to get cheaper supplies. The Spa Wisdom line has a number of different items including a massage oil, which would be great in a spa treatment, but we've simplified it down to just 3 that give you the full day spa experience without the expense. Also the three items used in this home spa treatment all support Community Trade so you can feel good about saving the world as you save money. This treatment will cost around $4 compared to over $40 in a day spa.

How to do it

This is a really easy treatment for the shower or tub. Once you are good and warm, work the blissful body cleanser into the skin using your hands or a shower pouffe. You don't need much cream at all - a little goes a long way. Its worth spending time on the usual problem areas - knees and elbows.

Once the skin is well cleansed, its scrubbing time. You shouldn't exfoliate more than once a week, or you will make your skin sore. As with all these scrubs, you are literally scrubbing the dead skin off your body. Hands work best here, and in the shower, the water will be washing off the scrub as quickly as you put it on. If you can stand to jump out of the shower while you put it on, thats great. Its fascinating watching the water bead up on your newly softened skin when you jump back in. But it works fine even under the water. The salt scrub is quite dry compared to the Body Shop's other body scrubs and it can be hard getting just a little out at a time. Once you are scrubbed, be sure to get every last trace of the salt scrub off your body.

The last stage is the rich body balm, which is a really thick brown balm. Since it contains shea butter and cocoa butter, it feels a little oily at first, but it soaks nicely into the skin, and is very easy to apply. Again, pay attention to the knees and elbows, and you will be left wonderfully soft and deeply cleansed.
